Dashboard
The Dashboard is the first page you see after signing in. It gives you a real-time overview of your brokerage account — equity history, account balances, open positions, recent orders, and the live performance of every strategy you are subscribed to.
What's on the page
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Environment Switcher | Toggle between Paper (simulated) and Live trading |
| Portfolio Equity Chart | Your account's equity over time |
| Account Stats | Equity, buying power, cash, day trades, all-time profit |
| Open Positions | Your current holdings with live P&L |
| Recent Orders | The latest orders placed by you or your strategies |
| Strategy Performance | Per-strategy returns for everything you are subscribed to |
Environment Switcher
bonfi.trade supports two trading environments:
- Paper — A simulated brokerage account. Trades use real market prices but no real money changes hands. Ideal for testing strategies before going live.
- Live — Your real Alpaca brokerage account. Trades are executed and settled with actual funds.
The Environment Switcher appears at the top-right of the Dashboard (if enabled in Settings). Clicking it toggles all data — chart, balances, positions, orders — between your Paper and Live accounts.
TIP
You can connect both a Paper and a Live Alpaca account simultaneously. See Settings → Connection for how to set this up.
WARNING
Switching to Live means any orders placed will use real funds. Confirm you understand the risks before trading live.
Portfolio Equity Chart
The equity chart plots your total account value over time. The orange area series represents your portfolio equity at each point.
Changing the time period
Click any of the period buttons above the chart to zoom in or out:
| Button | Lookback |
|---|---|
| 1D | Last trading day |
| 1W | Last 7 days |
| 1M | Last 30 days (default) |
| 3M | Last 90 days |
| 1Y | Last 365 days |
| All | Full account history |
Period buttons are automatically disabled if your account does not yet have enough history for that range. The All button is always available.
INFO
If the chart shows "No history data available for this period", your account hasn't been active long enough to fill that window. Try a shorter period or wait for more trading days.
Account Stats
Below the chart you will find four stat cards:
| Card | What it means |
|---|---|
| Total Equity | The total value of your portfolio — cash plus the market value of all open positions. |
| Buying Power | How much capital you can deploy into new trades right now. |
| Cash | Settled cash not yet invested. |
| Day Trades | The number of day trades (round-trip trades within a single session) you have made in the rolling 5-business-day window. |
A fifth figure — All-Time Profit — is calculated as the difference between your current equity and your equity at the earliest point in your portfolio history. It is not a hardcoded cost basis; it grows as your history grows.
WARNING
Pattern Day Trader (PDT) rule: US regulations require a minimum account equity of $25,000 if you execute 4 or more day trades within a 5-business-day period on a margin account. The Day Trades card helps you track proximity to this limit.
Open Positions
This section lists the positions currently held in your account. Up to 5 positions are shown. If you have more, click View All to go to the Positions page.
Each row shows:
- Symbol — The ticker of the held security.
- Strategy chips — Which automated strategies hold this position. A Manual chip appears for positions you opened yourself outside of any strategy.
- Qty — Number of shares (fractional shares are supported).
- Current Price — The latest market price of the security.
- Unrealized P&L — The profit or loss on this position if it were closed at the current price. A green ↑ indicates a gain; red ↓ indicates a loss.
Position P&L updates live — values refresh automatically via a WebSocket connection without requiring a page reload. Recently updated rows briefly highlight to indicate a price change.
Recent Orders
The Recent Orders section shows the last 5 orders placed by you or any of your subscribed strategies. Click View All to see the full order history on the Orders List page.
Each row shows:
- Status icon — ✅ Filled · 🕐 Pending · ○ Canceled
- Symbol & order type — E.g.
AAPL Market Buy - Strategy chip — Which strategy placed this order, or Manual if you placed it yourself.
- Qty & price — Number of shares and limit/stop price if applicable (market orders show
--). - Status badge — Filled / Pending / Canceled
INFO
Orders placed by your subscribed strategies appear here automatically. You don't need to do anything — the platform's Order Management System fans out strategy signals to your account and places fractional orders on your behalf.
Strategy Performance
At the bottom of the Dashboard, each strategy you are subscribed to gets its own performance row showing your actual returns — not backtested projections.
Each row shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Strategy name | The name and an environment badge (Paper / Live) |
| Allocated | The dollar amount you have allocated to this strategy |
| Market Value | The current market value of the holdings this strategy manages |
| Unrealized P&L | Dollar and percentage return on the strategy's holdings |
Click any row to open the Subscription Detail page for a full breakdown — equity curve, holdings table, and executed orders history.
TIP
If a strategy shows "Awaiting prices" instead of a dollar figure, the strategy has allocated capital but the market is currently closed or prices haven't loaded yet. The figures will appear once prices are available.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my chart flat or missing data?
Your account needs at least one completed trading session before portfolio history appears. If you just connected your Alpaca account, check back after the next market close.
My equity shows $0 even though I have funds.
Make sure you have completed the Alpaca OAuth connection for the correct environment (Paper vs. Live). Visit Settings → Connection to verify.
A position shows "Manual" — what does that mean?
It means this position was not opened by any of your subscribed automated strategies. Either you placed it yourself through the Orders page, or it existed in your Alpaca account before you connected to bonfi.trade.
Unrealized P&L isn't updating.
Live updates require an active WebSocket connection. If your network connection drops, the figures will stop refreshing. Reload the page to re-establish the connection.
